Rank will be based on experience.<div><br></div><div><div id="details-info" class="tab-pane active fr-view" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0); margin: 2px;"><dl><dt><h2>Position Summary</h2></dt><dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0.75rem 0px 0px;">Southern Utah University (SUU) is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Computer Science, scheduled to begin in August 2025. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. or DSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. This position is intended for in-person employment, but applicants with a very strong record of teaching online courses may be considered for a remote position.</p><p style="margin: 0.75rem 0px 0px;">Although preference is given to candidates with a completed Ph.D. by the appointment start date, ABDs who will complete a Ph.D. within one year from their start date will be considered. Position includes benefits that may include relocation expenses to hired candidates for on-site employment. Incomplete applications will not be considered.</p><p></p></dd><dt><h2>Essential Functions</h2></dt><dd><p></p><ul style="margin: 0px 0px 3pt; padding: 0 0 0 var(--ed--list--item-counter--padding, 24px);"><li><p style="margin: 0px;">SUU is primarily a teaching institution; thus, the successful candidate will have a strong record of teaching, and will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their teaching skill in an on-campus visit. Primary responsibilities center around providing a quality educational experience for undergraduate students in Computer Science courses in a student-centered learning environment. Additional responsibilities include curriculum development, scholarly activity, active participation on service committees, and other duties as needed to support a robust and dynamic environment for student learning, and support the continuance of the program’s accreditation(s).</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0px;">Tenure-track faculty teach 24 credit hours per year (4 courses per semester). Faculty may be expected to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online courses.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0px;">Although we are primarily a teaching institution, tenure-track faculty do have an expectation to engage collaboratively with students and/or peers on scholarly activity that generates peer-reviewed publications.</p></li></ul><p></p></dd><dt><h2>Education & Experience</h2></dt><dd><p></p><ul style="margin: 0px 0px 3pt; padding: 0 0 0 var(--ed--list--item-counter--padding, 24px);"><li><p style="margin: 0px;">Ph.D. or DSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field within the broad scope of Computer Science.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0px;">Commitment and ability to deliver quality teaching.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0px;">Effective communication and ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, and students.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0px;">Evidence of research/scholarly activity.</p></li></ul></dd><dd><p id="isPasted" style="margin: 0.75rem 0px 0px;">The CSCY department represents an array of disciplines that utilize all manner of technology to teach industry-relevant skills in computer science, programming, software engineering, information technology, and cybersecurity. The undergraduate Computer Science degree is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET under the General Criteria and Computer Science program criteria, and the Cybersecurity degree is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C). Additionally, we have a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance.
