DESCRIPTION
AI-based information systems have been increasingly used in implementing policies for various areas such as college admissions, loan approvals, hiring decisions, and parole decisions. The heavy reliance on automated AI-based systems results in debates and claims of inequity, discrimination, and unfairness (e.g., see O'Neil, 2016). This mini-track aims to address various technical, social, and economic issues relevant to fairness in the context of AI. The topic focuses on fairness in AI and information systems including, but not limited to:
* Social perspectives on fairness in AI
* Fairness measures and metrics
* Fairness in resource allocation
* Fairness modeling
* Fairness and bias
* Fair policymaking
* Debiasing in data, models, and analytics process
* Best practice
* Impossibility results
* Subjectivity of fairness
* Fairness and information systems economics
* Fairness perceptions
* Individual vs. group fairness
* Fairness and social welfare
