Summer School on Human Factors in Cybersecurity and Privacy - Interdisciplinary Research Methods

Dear colleagues,

We are happy to inform you about the 1st Edition of the Zurich Cybersecurity Summer School (July 7th - July 11th 2025 at University of Zurich) on the topic of human factors in cybersecurity and privacy. The main focus of this summer school lies on interdisciplinary research methods.

Are you an early career researcher (Master thesis or PhD project) and you have a background and interest in cybersecurity / privacy / HCI / human factors or related fields? Do you want to enhance your research skills with methods from various fields? Are you a practitioner and you would like to learn about structured approaches how to answer research questions of interest? Or are you simply interested in effective communicating and ethically reflecting on complex research endeavors in cybersecurity and privacy?

If you answer one of these questions with yes, apply for this summer school until April 30th 2025!

In this summer school, jointly organized by ZHAW, University of Zurich, and ETH Zurich, you advance your own research project / proposal with the help of lectures, interactive session, exercises, discussions, ... - we are aiming to provide detailed knowledge and hands-on experience, the participants of this summer school are going to understand in-depth and apply interdisciplinary research methods (e.g. mixed-methods approaches, the use of AI in research) from the field of Social Sciences, but also with inputs from Computer Science. We also connect with the industry and organize an exclusive session at IBM Research in Rüschlikon.
