Dear All,

We're excited to announce the release of our very first technical
report by the Cyber Forensics & Threat Investigations Research
Community!

Title: CYBER THREATS IN FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS – Addressing the Dual
Challenge of AI and Quantum Computing

Special thanks to Ahmed. for his outstanding work in restructuring and
editing this report.

Report Overview

The financial sector is confronted with two emerging challenges:

-AI Threats: From deepfakes to AI-driven malware, attackers are
leveraging artificial intelligence to scale and personalize their
operations, lowering the barrier for cybercriminals and increasing the
sophistication of threats.
-Quantum Computing Risks: Shor’s algorithm and other quantum
capabilities threaten to break RSA and ECC encryption, potentially
rendering our current security measures obsolete within the next 5–30
years. The “harvest now, decrypt later” scenario underscores the
urgency to transition to quantum-resistant cryptography.

Our report covers:

-Evolving legal and regulatory frameworks tackling AI-driven
cybercrime and the emerging quantum threat.
-Evaluations of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum
Cryptography (PQC) as potential countermeasures.
-Best practices and recommendations for global regulators to foster
collaboration, establish unified standards, and promote a resilient
financial ecosystem, equipped to handle both AI and quantum-enabled
cyberattacks.
