Mini-track: Energy Informatics in Green IS

Track: Green IS and Sustainability (SIG Green)

Energy Informatics in Green IS

The push for sustainable development has made energy central to environmental and economic transformation. Green Information Systems (Green IS) play a crucial role in addressing the challenges of transitioning to sustainable energy systems. Energy Informatics, based on the principle that IS-based approaches improve energy efficiency and renewable energy use while reducing carbon emissions (Energy + Information < Energy), is essential in this transition. It explores how digital technologies — e.g. advanced analytics, AI, IoT, and decentralized systems — optimize energy generation, distribution, marketing, and consumption for more efficient and resilient systems.

This mini-track invites research on the application and analysis of Energy Informatics within Green IS. We also encourage contributions related to fields like computer science, engineering, energy economics, and environmental studies with a digitalization focus. Topics may include energy efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, system optimization, or sustainable practices in areas like renewables, smart grids, and energy markets, offering theoretical insights and practical applications.
