** Digital Innovations and Development minitrack **
under the ICTs and Global Development (SIGGlobDev) track
Digital innovations employ various cutting-edge ICT-based solutions and platforms, such as cloud computing, big data, blockchain, metaverse, that are applied in numerous spheres of professional and everyday life. Some take the form of digital services that make use of design thinking techniques to provide the users with valuable experiences. Digital innovations have great potential to support socioeconomic development through digital inclusion, poverty alleviation, empowerment, fostering entrepreneurship, to name a few.
The objective of this mini-track is to encourage more research on digital innovations driving socioeconomic development by providing a forum for interested authors to disseminate their research, compare results, and exchange ideas. We are seeking papers dealing with digital innovations and development in various contexts, including developed, emerging and transition economies, in their various facets, such as business, technical, social, political, cultural, economic, legal, and educational.
Possible topics of interest for this minitrack include but are not limited to the following subjects, investigated from the perspective of socioeconomic development:
- Innovative ICT-supported services and business models
- Digital innovations in e-government, e-democracy, and citizen participation
- Digital innovations in healthcare
- Governance and management of digital innovations
- Design and deployment of digital innovations in small and medium-sized enterprises
- Success factors, barriers and risks of digital innovations adoption
- Return on investment from digital innovations (financial and other)
- Digital innovations in global supply chains
- Digital innovations in off-shoring and outsourcing of systems and services
- Applications of digital innovations in education
- Design of innovative, affordable, and sustainable artifacts related to ICT
- Digital workplaces, innovative work practices, and their impact on socioeconomic development
- Digital innovations in support of migrants and refugees
- Leveraging the potential of blockchain technology to support development
- The role of cryptocurrencies and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) in socioeconomic development
- Opportunities of the Metaverse in socioeconomic development
- Design of innovative digital services
